Pittyvaich distillery is located in the heart of Speyside, Scotland. Established in 1974, it was built by the Dufftown Distillery Company, which later became part of the United Distillers group. The distillery operated until its closure in 1993, leaving behind a legacy of unique single malts. Despite its relatively brief history, Pittyvaich has garnered a dedicated following among whisky enthusiasts and collectors. The distillery had a production capacity of around 1.5 million liters annually. It featured traditional pot stills and a range of modern equipment, which contributed to its distinctive flavor profile. Pittyvaich whiskies are known for their sweet and fruity character, often exhibiting notes of honey, nuts, and vanilla. The finish typically reveals subtle peat smoke, enhancing the complexity of the malt. Notable expressions include the 30-Year-Old Special Release from 2020 and the 12-Year-Old variant, both of which showcase the distillery’s craftsmanship and depth of flavor. Although no longer producing, Pittyvaich remains a respected name among connoisseurs for its quality and rarity.
