The North of Scotland distillery, located in the Lowlands of Scotland, was founded in 1957 and operated until its closure in 1982. Originally established by the North British Distillery Company, it was known for producing single grain whisky. The distillery's ownership changed over the years, but it maintained a reputation for quality despite its brief operational period. With a production capacity that allowed for significant output, North of Scotland utilized traditional grain distillation methods. The distillery was equipped with modern technology for its time, which contributed to the unique character of its whiskies. The flavour profile is noted for its rich and complex notes of fig, malt, and plum on the nose, while the palate offers a delightful blend of oil, nuts, and sweet honey, finishing with herbal and nutty undertones. Notable expressions include the North Of Scotland 50 Years Old 1970 and the 42 Year Old 1971, both highly regarded among collectors and connoisseurs, showcasing the distillery's legacy despite its closure.
