Lochside
Highland, Scotland · Opgericht in 1957 - 1991
Lochside Distillery, located in the East Highlands of Scotland, was founded in 1957 by Macnab Distilleries Ltd. The distillery operated under this ownership until its closure in 1991, and it was subsequently demolished in 2005. Although it is no longer in operation, Lochside remains a notable name in the whisky community, particularly due to its rarity and the quality of its expressions. The distillery was equipped with two wash stills and two spirit stills, though its exact production capacity remains uncertain. Lochside whisky is characterized by a delicate balance of herbs and floral notes on the nose, complemented by sweet malt aromas. The palate reveals vibrant citrus and grapefruit flavors, accompanied by spices and nutty undertones. The finish is complex, featuring sherry, oak, and fruit notes. Notable expressions include the Lochside 1981 (27 years old) and the Lochside 46 Years (1965) and 49 Years (1967), making it a sought-after choice for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
