Lindores Abbey

Lindores Abbey Distillery is located in the heart of the Highlands of Scotland, specifically in Newburgh, Fife. Founded in 2017 by Drew and Helen McKenzie Smith, the distillery stands on the historic site of Lindores Abbey, which dates back to 1191. The distillery is currently owned and operated by the McKenzie Smith family, who are dedicated to reviving the long-standing whisky tradition connected to this iconic location. With an annual production capacity of 150,000 liters, Lindores Abbey utilizes traditional copper pot stills and modern techniques to craft their whisky. The distillery’s offerings showcase a character marked by sweet and fruity notes, complemented by spices, citrus, and the influence of sherry cask maturation. Notable expressions include the Lindores MCDXCIV, which pays homage to the year 1494, and their Oloroso Sherry Butts series. Visitors can explore the distillery and its rich heritage, with guided tours available for those interested in the whisky-making process.
