Ladyburn distillery, located in the Speyside region of Scotland, was established in the early 1970s as an extension of the Girvan distillery. Owned by William Grant & Sons, Ladyburn produced whisky for a relatively short period before its closure in 1975. The distillery was unique in being more of an annex than a standalone facility, housing only a pair of stills within the larger Girvan complex. Despite its brief operational history, Ladyburn has garnered a reputation for producing distinctive whiskies that are highly sought after by collectors. The production capacity of Ladyburn was limited, focusing on both single grain and single malt whiskies. The distillery utilized traditional equipment, including pot stills, resulting in a flavour profile characterized by sweet and herbal notes, complemented by hints of leather and vanilla. The whisky produced at Ladyburn is known for its complexity, with tasting notes revealing layers of grass, herbs, and sweetness. With expressions ranging from 24 to 42 years of age, notable bottlings like the Ladyburn 34 Years from 1975 and the Ladyburn 42 Years are especially prized among enthusiasts, reflecting the unique character of this now-closed distillery.
