Kavalan Distillery, established in 2005, is located in the Yuan Shan Township of Taiwan. Founded by Tian-Tsai Lee, it is a relatively young player in the global whisky scene but has quickly gained recognition for its high-quality single malt whiskies. The distillery operates under the umbrella of the King Car Group, which has a strong presence in food and beverage in Taiwan. With an impressive annual production capacity of 9 million liters, Kavalan utilizes modern equipment to produce its whisky. It features four fermenters and employs innovative techniques to maximize flavor extraction. The whisky is known for its complex character, exhibiting notes of fruit, sweet sherry, and a hint of spices on the nose, while the palate reveals layers of oak, sweetness, and a continuation of the fruit and spice theme. The finish is characterized by a lovely blend of oak and sweet sherry, making it a delightful choice for whisky enthusiasts.
