Imperial Distillery, located in the heart of Speyside, Scotland, was founded in 1897. Originally established by the Imperial Distillery Company, it has gone through various ownership changes over the years, with Pernod Ricard being the current owner. Despite its rich history, the distillery has been closed since 1998, a victim of the economic challenges faced by the whisky industry during the late 20th century. The distillery had a production capacity that allowed it to produce single malt whiskies characterized by a unique flavor profile. Typically, Imperial whiskies exhibit a combination of fruity notes, spices, and sweetness, often enhanced by sherry cask maturation. The distillery's expressions, aged between 13 and 29 years, have garnered attention from whisky enthusiasts, particularly the Imperial 19 Years - 1995 and the Imperial 17 Years - 1995, which showcase the depth and complexity that the distillery was known for. Although no longer operational, Imperial's whiskies can still be found through independent bottlings, preserving its legacy in the whisky community.
