Gillybanks distillery was established in 1817 in the Lowland region of Scotland, founded by John Martinson & Co. The distillery operated for a relatively short period before closing its doors in 1834. Despite its brief existence, Gillybanks contributed to the early development of whisky production in the region, reflecting the growing interest in distillation during the early 19th century. The distillery's production methods and equipment were typical of the era, utilizing traditional pot stills that were common in Scottish distilleries of the time. Although Gillybanks was active for only a few decades, it was known to produce a light and floral whisky characteristic of the Lowland style, which often featured delicate notes of fruits and fresh grass. Unfortunately, due to its closure, no contemporary expressions exist, but historical records suggest that Gillybanks may have offered a refreshing alternative to the heavier whiskies produced in other regions of Scotland.
