Craigellachie

Craigellachie Distillery is located in the heart of Speyside, Scotland, and was founded in 1891. Established by the architect and distiller Charles Doig, it has remained under the ownership of Bacardi since acquiring it in the mid-1990s. The distillery has a rich history, contributing significantly to the blend of Dewar’s whiskies while gradually carving out its own identity within the whisky world. With an annual production capacity of 4.1 million liters, Craigellachie employs eight fermenters, each with a capacity of 45,000 liters, and a 9-ton mashtun. The distillery is known for its robust single malts that often display a sweet and fruity character with underlying spice and oak notes. Nosing reveals aromas of fruit, citrus, and sweetness, while the palate is treated to flavors of fruit, spices, oak, and malt, finishing with a harmonious blend of sweetness and spice. Notable expressions include the 13-year-old, 17-year-old, and 23-year-old variants, each showcasing the distillery's distinctive profile. Visitors can explore the distillery at Craigellachie Distillery, Hill St., Aberlour, AB38 9ST, where they can taste its rich offerings and learn more about its production methods.
