Coleburn
Speyside, Scotland · Opgericht in 1897 - 1985
Coleburn Distillery is located in the heart of Speyside, Scotland, and was founded in 1897 by John Robertson & Son Ltd. The distillery operated under various ownerships until it was acquired by Diageo. Unfortunately, Coleburn ceased production in 1985, leaving behind a legacy of limited but notable whisky expressions. With a production capacity that was modest for its time, Coleburn utilized traditional copper pot stills and wooden washbacks, allowing for a unique development of its whisky character. The flavor profile is characterized by a sweet and fruity essence, complemented by notes of nuts, malt, and oak on the nose. The palate reveals citrus and spices, leading to a finish rich in oak, oil, and sherry influences. While most of Coleburn's whisky was used in blends, a few single malt expressions have been released, notably the Coleburn 1981 and a 125th Anniversary Edition aged 47 years. These limited releases highlight the distillery's potential and craftsmanship, appealing to whisky enthusiasts and collectors alike.
