Caperdonich

Caperdonich Distillery is located in the heart of Speyside, Scotland, and was founded in 1898 by James Grant. The distillery was constructed in the picturesque village of Rothes and was originally intended to produce whisky that mimicked the style of Glen Grant. It remained operational until 2002 and was owned by Pernod Ricard at the time of its closure. Caperdonich's historical significance in the whisky industry is underscored by its unique production methods and its focus on crafting high-quality single malts. Caperdonich had a production capacity that catered to the growing demand for single malt whisky, utilizing traditional pot stills and a variety of cask types to influence flavor. The whisky produced here is known for its light and fruity character, often complemented by notes of sweet peat smoke and a hint of chocolate. The flavor profile includes vibrant fruit and spice combinations, along with herbal undertones, resulting in a complex and enjoyable tasting experience. Notable expressions include the Caperdonich 18 Years and the Caperdonich 25 Years Peated, which showcase the distillery's craftsmanship. While the distillery is no longer operational, independent bottlers occasionally release casks, preserving its legacy for whisky enthusiasts to explore.
