Cambus

Cambus distillery, located in the Lowland region of Scotland, was established in 1806 by Jon Mowbrauy. Initially, the distillery faced challenges with storage due to insufficient warehousing for its production capacity. To address this, a significant expansion was undertaken, resulting in a complex of 200 warehouses. The distillery operated under various ownerships over the years, with its last owner being Diageo before its closure. Cambus was primarily known for its single grain whisky, with a production capacity that allowed for the creation of a wide range of expressions. The distillery utilized traditional pot stills and column stills, which contributed to its unique flavor profile. Cambus whiskies are characterized by sweet and fruity notes, with underlying hints of oak, apple, and caramel. The finish often reveals a blend of spices and citrus, making it a complex and enjoyable dram. Notable expressions include the Cambus 1991 Signatory Cask Strength and several aged releases, such as the Cambus 26 Years - 1991, showcasing the depth of flavor developed over time. Although the distillery is now closed, its legacy lives on through its fine whiskies sought after by collectors and enthusiasts alike.
