Balmenach

Balmenach Distillery is located in the heart of the Highland region of Scotland, having been founded in 1824. Originally established by the founder, John Grant, the distillery has seen various ownership changes and is currently owned by Inver House Distillers Ltd. After a period of closure in 1993, the distillery has resumed production, continuing its long-standing tradition of whisky-making. With an annual production capacity of 1,800,000 liters, Balmenach utilizes traditional methods combined with modern techniques. The distillery features copper pot stills and a unique copper berry chamber used in their gin production. The whisky character is predominantly fruity with a sweet profile, showcasing notes of malt, spices, and chocolate. The finish is well-rounded with hints of oak, nuts, and lingering fruitiness. Notable expressions include the Balmenach 12 Years and various independent bottlings, highlighting the distillery’s commitment to quality and craftsmanship.
