Auldtown

Auldtown Distillery, located in the Highland region of Scotland, was founded in 1816 by George Gellie. The distillery operated for a brief period before closing its doors in 1826, making it one of the many short-lived distilleries in Scotland's rich whisky history. Although it no longer exists, Auldtown remains a part of the early 19th-century whisky landscape, reflecting the burgeoning interest in whisky production during that time. Due to its limited production period, details about Auldtown's production capacity and equipment are sparse. However, it can be surmised that like many distilleries of its era, Auldtown would have utilized traditional pot stills for distillation, which are known for producing rich and complex spirits. The character of Auldtown's whisky, though largely undocumented, might have featured the typical Highland profile, characterized by a robust flavor with fruity and floral notes, possibly complemented by a hint of peat. Due to its closure, no visitor information or notable expressions exist today, but Auldtown's historical significance remains a point of interest for whisky enthusiasts.
