Woodford Reserve is a premium Kentucky bourbon with deep roots in American whiskey history. The distillery site in Versailles, Kentucky, has a distilling history dating back to 1812, making it one of the oldest distilling sites in the state. Originally known as the Old Oscar Pepper Distillery, the site underwent two name changes before becoming the Woodford Reserve Distillery we know today. Brown-Forman restored the historic distillery in the 1990s and launched the modern Woodford Reserve brand in 1996, positioning it as one of the first wave of super-premium bourbons that helped reinvigorate the American brown spirits category. Woodford Reserve's core portfolio centers on its flagship Distiller's Select and the rich Double Oaked bourbon, alongside a Kentucky Straight Rye — added as a permanent expression in 2015 — as well as a Wheat Whiskey and a Malt Whiskey. The brand is known for its meticulous, craft-driven approach to production and its use of pot stills alongside column stills, a distinctive choice in the bourbon world. The Masters Collection offers limited, innovative releases that often draw on 19th-century bourbon-making traditions, such as low-entry-proof barrel aging.
