Tullibardine
/tul-ee-BAR-din/
Highland, Scotland · Founded in 1949
Tullibardine is one of Scotland's most historically rooted distilleries, with a site that traces its origins back to 1488, when King James IV of Scotland visited and issued a royal grant to the brewery located there. The modern distillery, however, was established in 1949 in the village of Blackford, in the southern Highlands, drawing its water from the nearby Ochil Hills. After a period of mothballing in the 1990s under Whyte & Mackay, the distillery was revived and eventually acquired in 2011 by the Picard family, a third-generation French family already deeply involved in the Scotch whisky industry. Tullibardine produces Highland single malt Scotch whisky with a character shaped by its pristine water source and artisan approach to distilling. The distillery holds an impressive stock of casks dating back to 1952, giving it a rich range of aged expressions. Its portfolio spans a variety of wood finishes and vintages, reflecting both depth and versatility. Tullibardine is one of the few remaining distilleries that continues to champion an independent, craft-focused identity, combining centuries of heritage with a modern commitment to quality.
