The Deveron is a Highland single malt Scotch whisky produced at Macduff Distillery, situated on the northeastern coast of Scotland near the town of Banff. The distillery takes its name from the River Deveron, which flows through the surrounding landscape. Macduff is a modern distillery that has operated under the ownership of John Dewar & Sons, part of the Bacardi group. In late 2015, John Dewar & Sons rebranded their single malt expressions under the name The Deveron, launching a portfolio of age-stated expressions for both domestic and international markets. The Deveron range is known for its easy-drinking, coastal character — a style that reflects its northeastern Highland origins. The portfolio includes three age statements — 10, 12, and 18 Years Old — each bottled at 40% ABV. The whisky is matured primarily in ex-bourbon oak casks, with a portion aged in ex-sherry casks, resulting in a well-balanced malt with a gentle sweetness and coastal freshness. The 10 Year Old expression is exclusively available in France, while the 12 and 18 Year Old are distributed more widely. Macduff Distillery also releases bottlings under the older Glen Deveron name, and its whisky is occasionally found through independent bottlers under the Macduff distillery name.
