Texas Legation is a bourbon whiskey range created by Berry Bros. & Rudd, Britain's oldest wine and spirit merchant, founded in 1698 at No. 3 St James's Street in London. The name pays homage to a remarkable piece of history: between 1842 and 1845, Berry Bros. & Rudd leased a room at their historic premises to the diplomatic mission of the Republic of Texas β€” then an independent country β€” known as the Texas Legation. A commemorative plaque in the passage of No. 3 St James's Street still marks this unusual connection between a London wine merchant and the Lone Star Republic. Inspired by this historical bond, Berry Bros. & Rudd created the Texas Legation range to celebrate their enduring fondness for spirits from the great state of Texas. The whiskey is a Texan bourbon, sourced and produced in Texas, and released in limited batches. Batch No. 2 is among the known releases in this range, reflecting Berry Bros. & Rudd's approach of working with craft producers to craft expressions of genuine quality and character. The Texas Legation bourbon has received recognition from the whisky community, with WhiskyCast noting it among several award-winning whiskies produced in collaboration with its Texas distillery partner. The range stands as a testament to Berry Bros. & Rudd's ability to blend rich history with the exciting new wave of American craft whiskey.
