Speyside, Scotland · Founded in 1966
Tamnavulin Distillery was established in 1966 in the rural village of Tomnavoulin, nestled in the heart of Speyside, Scotland. It was founded by the Tamnavulin-Glenlivet Distillery Co. Ltd. during one of the whisky industry's most significant boom periods, a time when demand was so far outstripping supply that new production facilities had to be built rapidly. From its earliest days, the distillery was designed primarily to produce large volumes of spirit intended for blending purposes. In 1993, Tamnavulin was acquired by Whyte & Mackay, one of Scotland's prominent whisky groups, which brought the distillery firmly into a larger corporate portfolio. For many years, only a handful of official single malt bottlings were released, reflecting its original purpose as a blending workhorse. That changed in 2016, when Whyte & Mackay relaunched Tamnavulin Single Malt Whisky, introducing the brand to a new generation of whisky enthusiasts. The signature style is approachable and light, characteristic of the Speyside region, with expressions featuring wine cask finishes that add additional layers of complexity and sweetness. Tamnavulin has steadily grown its reputation as an accessible yet characterful Speyside single malt, with its Double Cask and various wine-finished expressions gaining increasing recognition among both newcomers and seasoned whisky lovers worldwide.
