Tamdhu Distillery is located in the heart of Speyside, on the banks of the River Spey, and was founded in 1897 during the late Victorian whisky boom. As one of Speyside's founding distilleries, it has deep roots in the region's rich whisky-making heritage. In 2011, the distillery was acquired by Ian Macleod Distillers, a family-run independent Scottish whisky company also known for Glengoyne and Rosebank, who relaunched the brand in May 2013 with a new 10 year old Speyside Single Malt. Tamdhu is celebrated for its commitment to sherry cask maturation, a defining characteristic that sets it apart in the Speyside landscape. The distillery's close relationship with the legendary bodegas of Jerez ensures a consistent supply of high-quality sherry casks, lending its whisky a rich, full-bodied character with notes of dried fruit, spice, and warm oak. The portfolio ranges from accessible core expressions to more exclusive aged releases, appealing to both newcomers and seasoned whisky enthusiasts. Since Ian Macleod Distillers took over, Tamdhu has built a loyal and growing following among single malt lovers worldwide. Its dedication to traditional craftsmanship combined with sherry cask expertise has firmly established Tamdhu as a respected and distinctive voice in the world of Speyside whisky.
