Speyside, Scotland · Founded in 1786
Strathisla is one of Scotland's oldest distilleries, with roots stretching back to 1786, when two local businessmen, George Taylor and a partner, established it in the town of Keith in Speyside. Originally known as Milltown — and later Milton — the distillery operated under these names for nearly a century before being renamed Strathisla in 1870, after the river that runs alongside it. Today, the distillery is owned by Chivas Brothers, a subsidiary of Pernod Ricard, and holds the distinction of being the first distillery acquired by the company. Strathisla is best known as the spiritual home and heart of Chivas Regal, one of the world's most celebrated Scotch whisky blends. As the flagship single malt of the Chivas Brothers portfolio, Strathisla's character — rich, fruity, and full-bodied — forms the backbone of this iconic blend. The distillery's Speyside location contributes to the elegantly smooth and honeyed style that defines its whisky's profile. Beyond its role in blending, Strathisla is also released as a single malt expression in its own right, allowing enthusiasts to experience its distinctive character undiluted. The distillery itself is considered one of the most picturesque in Scotland and welcomes visitors to its historic site in Keith, where they can explore its long heritage and deep ties to the Chivas Regal legacy.
