Rosebank

Rosebank Distillery, located in Falkirk, is one of Scotland's most celebrated Lowland distilleries. The roots of whisky production on the site date back to 1798, with the distillery formally established in 1840 by James Rankine. Over the decades, Rosebank became an integral part of Scottish whisky history, joining Scottish Malt Distillers and eventually falling under the ownership of Distillers Company Limited (DCL), which was later absorbed by Diageo. Despite its storied past, the distillery was closed and left silent for decades, earning it the status of a beloved 'ghost distillery'. Rosebank earned the nickname 'King of the Lowlands' for its exceptional triple-distilled single malt Scotch whisky, a style closely associated with the Lowland region. Its whiskies were renowned for their elegance, floral character, and refined complexity. In recent years, Ian Macleod Distillers (IMD) acquired Rosebank and undertook a significant revival project, bringing the distillery back to life after its long silence. The distillery has now been reopened, with production of new make spirit underway and an immersive visitor experience welcoming whisky enthusiasts once again. The return of Rosebank has generated considerable excitement across the whisky world. With its rich heritage and a passionate new custodian in Ian Macleod Distillers, Rosebank is actively working to reclaim its throne as the finest expression of Lowland single malt Scotch whisky.
