Pradlo is a historic distillery founded in 1929 on the outskirts of Plzeň, in what is now the Czech Republic. The distillery had been producing pot-still spirits for many years before venturing into whisky production. Its most defining chapter came in 1989 — the year the Iron Curtain fell — when Pradlo sealed its unique Bohemian whisky creation in casks, a symbolic moment that would link its liquid legacy to one of the most significant events in modern European history. The distillery is best known for its Hammer Head single malt, the only Czech whisky to have reached international markets. Pradlo's whisky is characterized by its pot-still origins and the stillness of the Bohemian countryside surrounding Plzeň, where fresh air and a unique local environment shaped the spirit's character. The distillery has since closed, making its remaining stocks exceptionally rare and sought after by collectors worldwide. Pradlo has also gained attention through collaborations such as a 25-year-old single malt released in partnership with British shoe manufacturer Jeffery West. Distributed internationally through notable importers including La Maison du Whisky, Pradlo's whisky stands as a fascinating piece of Eastern European distilling history.
