Pōkeno (pronounced 'Paw-Que-No') is a New Zealand single malt whisky distillery founded in 2017, named after the small town of Pōkeno in the Waikato region of New Zealand's North Island. The distillery set out with a clear ambition: to craft bold, creative single malts made uniquely from New Zealand ingredients. Using locally-grown barley and iron- and manganese-rich volcanic spring water, Pōkeno has positioned itself as one of the most exciting new voices in the global whisky landscape. Their flagship expression, Origin, is matured entirely in first-fill bourbon barrels, showcasing the natural character of New Zealand terroir.
