Nikka Discovery is a limited edition series launched by Nikka Whisky in 2021, timed to build anticipation ahead of the distillery's 90th anniversary. The series was created to explore and celebrate the remarkable diversity of whisky-making traditions within Nikka's portfolio, drawing on the full breadth of the brand's distilling heritage across multiple sites in Japan, including Yoichi and Miyagikyo. Each installment of the Nikka Discovery series shines a spotlight on a different facet of Nikka's craft. The series has featured expressions such as an Aromatic Yeast release from Yoichi and, as its final chapter in 2023, 'The Grain' — a blend of seven grain whiskies sourced from four of Nikka's distilleries, including vintage Coffey Grain from Miyagikyo. With a limited run of 20,000 bottles, 'The Grain' put grain whisky firmly in the spotlight, demonstrating that it can take centre stage rather than play a supporting role. The Nikka Discovery series has drawn significant attention from collectors and enthusiasts alike, with Nikka actively expanding its presence in international markets such as the United States on the back of the series' success. It stands as a testament to Nikka's ambition to continually push the boundaries of Japanese whisky.
