Murray McDavid
Speyside, Scotland · Founded in 1994
Murray McDavid is a renowned independent Scotch whisky bottler, established in 1994 by London wine merchants Mark Reynier and Simon Coughlin, together with Gordon Wright of Springbank Distillery. The company rapidly rose to prominence, becoming one of the leading independent bottlers in the Scotch whisky industry. A significant chapter in its history came when Murray McDavid purchased the Bruichladdich Distillery on the Isle of Islay, though the bottler later became independent once again. Today, Murray McDavid is based at the disused Coleburn Distillery in Speyside, where many of its cask selections continue to mature. Murray McDavid was among the first independent bottlers to experiment with a wide variety of interesting cask types for finishing, helping to set a new standard for innovation in the category. The company's goal is to perfect the art of maturation and cask selection, sourcing single malts from distilleries across Scotland and presenting them in distinctive, carefully crafted expressions. In 2015, the bottler undertook a significant overhaul of its portfolio, introducing a range of new brands, including Siar Port, reflecting its ongoing commitment to creativity and quality. With decades of experience and a reputation built on pioneering cask innovation, Murray McDavid remains a respected name among whisky enthusiasts and collectors worldwide.
