Mosgaard Distillery was founded in 2015 by Gitte and Jes Mosgaard, who fulfilled their dream of opening their own distillery. The distillery is idyllically located in Kolding, Denmark, and has quickly established itself as one of the notable names in the growing Danish whisky scene. Mosgaard specialises in organic single malt whisky, a commitment that sets the distillery apart in the craft spirits world. In March 2019, the distillery launched its first two expressions, with one having spent its entire maturation in oloroso casks. Their whisky portfolio showcases a variety of cask influences, and their 4-year-old Oloroso Cask expression, bottled at 46.2% ABV, has drawn considerable international attention. The distillery also produces gin alongside its whisky range. Mosgaard's reputation has grown steadily on the international stage. At the 2024 World Whiskies Awards, Mosgaard won Best Danish Single Malt, with judges highlighting woody bonfire smoke and caramel notes on the nose. The brand has also received coverage in major publications such as Forbes, cementing its place as a quality producer of organic Danish whisky.
