Midleton

Midleton Distillery has its roots in the early 19th century, when the Murphy family established the Old Midleton Distillery in County Cork, Ireland, in 1825. The distillery quickly earned a reputation for quality and became one of Ireland's largest producers. After a period of decline in the 20th century, a new chapter began in 1975 when Irish Distillers — now a subsidiary of Pernod Ricard — opened a state-of-the-art facility on the same historic site, cementing Midleton's place as the heartbeat of Irish whiskey production. Today, Midleton is Ireland's largest distillery and the home of some of the most iconic Irish whiskey brands in the world, including Jameson, Redbreast, Powers, Writers' Tears, and The Irishman. The distillery is renowned for its versatility, producing pot still, grain, and blended whiskeys across a wide range of styles. Its flagship own-label release, Midleton Very Rare — first launched in 1984 — is a celebrated annual bottling that has become a benchmark for premium Irish whiskey. The legacy of Midleton is also shaped by the vision of its Master Distillers. Barry Crockett, Brian Nation, and Kevin O'Gorman have each left their mark on the distillery's character and the enduring quality of the Midleton Very Rare series. With the addition of the innovative Method and Madness range, Midleton continues to push the boundaries of Irish whiskey craftsmanship.
