Medley

Medley is one of Kentucky's most storied bourbon dynasties, with the Wathen-Medley family having distilled whisky for eight generations — a legacy that stretches back more than 100 years before Prohibition. Rooted in Owensboro, Kentucky, the family's distilling heritage is deeply intertwined with the history of American bourbon itself. In 1901, Medley acquired the Daviess County Distillery, and the family survived Prohibition by selling bonded whiskey for medicinal purposes. Over the decades, the Medley Distillery became home to several well-known bourbon brands, most notably Ezra Brooks, which served as the distillery's flagship label. In 1988, Glenmore Distilleries acquired the Medley operation along with its brand portfolio. Despite the ownership change, production continued under the Medley name. In 1996, Charles Medley relaunched his father's personal label, Wathen's Kentucky Bourbon, and established the Charles Medley Distillery — keeping the family tradition alive in Owensboro. Charles Medley was later inducted into the Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame, a testament to the family's enduring contribution to American whisky culture. The Medley name remains synonymous with multi-generational Kentucky craftsmanship and a deep-rooted commitment to quality bourbon.
