Masahiro Shuzo is one of the oldest and largest distilleries in Okinawa, Japan, with roots stretching back to 1882. Located in the southernmost prefecture of Japan, the distillery has spent well over 140 years enhancing tradition with a modern business philosophy. Its deep heritage is rooted in the native craft of Awamori-making — the traditional Okinawan spirit — which laid the foundation for its expertise in distillation long before whisky became part of its portfolio. Today, Masahiro Shuzo proudly stands as the first whisky distillery in Okinawa, producing spirits that reflect the island's unique character and climate. Beyond whisky, the distillery has expanded its craft to include Masahiro Okinawa Craft Gin, a rice-based, twice-distilled gin that draws on the distillery's deep knowledge of botanicals and fermentation. Among its whisky releases, the KUJIRA Ryukyu Whisky range has gained international recognition, with expressions such as the 10-year-old earning praise from enthusiasts and collectors alike. Masahiro Shuzo is part of the Shin Group portfolio, which also encompasses Shinobu Distillery in Niigata and Wolfburn Distillery in Scotland, reflecting a broad and ambitious vision for craft spirits on a global scale.
