Limavady is one of Ireland's oldest whiskey brands, with roots stretching back to the early 18th century — sources cite its origins as far back as 1705 to 1750 — in the town of Limavady in Northern Ireland. Like many Irish whiskey distilleries, it flourished until the early 20th century before shuttering its doors in the 1910s due to wars and Prohibition. The brand is now being revived by Darryl McNally, a descendant of the distillery's original founders, who was quite literally born into the whiskey world — in his family's bar. McNally brings serious credentials to this passion project, having previously served as distillery manager at Bushmills and worked at The Dublin Liberties Distillery. Limavady gained early international attention through a collaboration with WhistlePig, the renowned American rye whiskey company, resulting in the Limavady Single Barrel Irish Whiskey. The brand positions itself as a bridge between Ireland's rich distilling heritage and a new generation of craft-driven production, with a focus on single malt expressions that reflect the character of their Northern Irish roots.
