Legent is a super-premium bourbon born from a groundbreaking collaboration between two of the world's most celebrated whiskey traditions. Launched in March 2019, it marked the first new standalone bourbon brand from Jim Beam in 27 years. The project brought together Fred Noe, seventh-generation Master Distiller and great-grandson of Jim Beam legend, with Shinji Fukuyo, Chief Blender at Suntory — uniting Kentucky craftsmanship with the refined art of Japanese blending under the umbrella of Suntory Global Spirits. Legent starts as a classic Kentucky Straight Bourbon, then takes a distinctive turn: portions of the whiskey are finished in ex-wine and sherry casks before being masterfully blended by Fukuyo. The result is a uniquely layered spirit bottled at 47% ABV (94 Proof), offering notes of cherries, raspberry, citrus, and charred oak. This east-meets-west philosophy gives Legent a profile unlike any traditional bourbon on the market. The brand has since expanded with limited releases such as the Legent Yamazaki Cask Finish Blend, which incorporates finishing in casks previously used for Suntory's iconic Yamazaki single malt.
