Kingsbarns Distillery was established in 2014 in the East Neuk of Fife, situated in the Scottish Lowlands. The distillery was originally the brainchild of Scottish golf caddie Douglas Clement, who worked at the nearby Kingsbarns Links golf course. The project came to life through the support of the Wemyss family, who brought their expertise as operators of the independent bottler Wemyss Malts to transform a historic, semi-derelict farm steading into a working distillery. The distillery is now part of the Wemyss Family Spirits portfolio. Kingsbarns produces single malt Scotch whisky in a distinctly Lowland style, characterised by vibrant fruit notes and delicate florals. A notable feature of the distillery is its use of locally sourced Fife barley, reflecting a strong connection to its surrounding landscape. The core range includes the Doocot, the distillery's flagship release, as well as the annual Distillery Reserve expression. In 2025, Kingsbarns unveiled its first decade-old whisky, the Kingsbarns 10 Years Old (46% ABV), marking a significant milestone in the distillery's maturation journey.
