Founded in 2005 by Anthony Wills, Kilchoman made history as the first distillery to be built on Islay in over 124 years. Situated on a traditional farm on the western coast of the island, Kilchoman set out from the very beginning to do things differently — embracing a farm distillery ethos that is rare in modern Scotch whisky production. The distillery released its first single malt in September 2009, marking the culmination of years of patient craftsmanship. Kilchoman is one of the few Scotch whisky producers to carry out every element of production on-site, from malting barley to bottling. This commitment to full-cycle distilling gives the whisky a distinctive, hands-on character rooted in Islay's rugged landscape. The range has grown steadily over the years to encompass beloved regular bottlings alongside more limited and buzz-worthy releases, all showcasing the peaty, coastal style that Islay is celebrated for. Since its first US bottling in 2010, Kilchoman has quickly established itself as a high-quality Islay single malt, earning multiple notable awards along the way. In recent years, the distillery launched a 20th Anniversary Cask Series — a set of four releases from five casks including 14- and 15-year-old expressions — celebrating two decades of independent, farm-to-bottle whisky making.
