Kavalan is Taiwan's first and most celebrated whisky distillery, founded in 2005 under the umbrella of King Car Group, a prominent Taiwanese food and beverage conglomerate established in 1959. The distillery produced its first drop of new make spirit on March 11, 2006, marking a historic milestone for Asian whisky. Under the guidance of master distiller Ian Chang, who helped shape the distillery's vision from its very founding, Kavalan quickly defied expectations and redefined what was thought possible outside of Scotland and Japan.
