Jura distillery traces its roots back to 1810, when Archibald Campbell established the first legal distillery on the remote Isle of Jura, located in the Inner Hebrides off the west coast of Scotland. After a turbulent history marked by closures and ownership changes, the distillery was eventually rebuilt between 1960 and 1963 by Robin Fletcher and Tony Riley-Smith, in partnership with Scottish & Newcastle. Since 1963, Jura has been continuously producing single malt Scotch whisky from its home in the small village of Craighouse — the island's only village. When the distillery was rebuilt, a deliberate choice was made to craft a lighter, sweeter, and more elegant Highland-style whisky, setting Jura apart from the heavily peated malts typically associated with nearby Islay. The result is a diverse portfolio of single malts that ranges from the approachable and fruit-driven 10 Year Old to rare and exclusive releases such as a 45-year-old Single Cask expression. The range also includes expressions with unique cask finishes, showcasing the distillery's versatility and commitment to exploration. Jura's combination of remote island heritage and refined, accessible whisky character has earned it a loyal following among both newcomers and seasoned whisky enthusiasts worldwide.
