Isle of Raasay Distillery is the first legal distillery on the small Hebridean island of Raasay, located off the west coast of Scotland. Founded by Bill Dobbie and Alasdair Day under the name R&B Distillers, the company was established in 2014 and commenced distilling operations on the island in September 2017. The distillery marks a historic milestone for Raasay, bringing legal whisky production to the island for the first time. The distillery released its inaugural single malt in November 2020, with the Isle of Raasay Single Malt Scotch Whisky becoming its flagship expression. The portfolio is complemented by limited special releases and single cask bottlings, reflecting the distillery's commitment to exploring a wide range of flavours. Co-founder Alasdair Day has spoken about the team's dedication to experimenting with lost flavours and pushing the boundaries of what a Hebridean island whisky can be. Since launching in the United States in November 2022 through importer ImpEx Beverages, Isle of Raasay has grown its international presence with four core expressions available. The distillery continues to add to its portfolio, including its well-regarded While We Wait collection, and has established itself as a pioneering name in Scottish island whisky.
