The Ileach is an Islay single malt Scotch whisky produced by the Highlands and Islands Scotch Whisky Co., a sister company of The Vintage Malt Whisky Company. The Vintage Malt Whisky Company was established by Brian Cook in 1992 and has since grown into a respected independent bottler and brand owner, with The Ileach becoming one of its most recognisable labels. Like many independent bottlings from Islay, the source distillery behind The Ileach is intentionally kept undisclosed, adding an air of mystery that has intrigued whisky enthusiasts for decades. The Ileach is a heavily peated Islay single malt, true to the bold, smoky character for which the island is famous. Available in both a standard expression and a cask strength version bottled at 58%, it delivers the robust, maritime peat smoke that Islay is celebrated for. Despite its Islay roots, The Ileach has found a particularly strong following in Scandinavia, where peated whiskies enjoy tremendous popularity. The brand sits alongside fellow Islay malts Finlaggan and Islay Storm in the company's award-winning portfolio, together representing the rugged, peaty spirit of Scotland's most famous whisky island.
