Speyside, Scotland · Founded in 1886
Glenfiddich is a legendary Speyside single malt Scotch whisky distillery located in Dufftown, in the Scottish region of Moray. Founded by William Grant in 1886, the distillery was built largely from second-hand equipment purchased at a bargain price from the nearby Cardhu distillery, with the first spirit running off the stills in 1887. The distillery remains family-owned to this day, operated by William Grant & Sons, making it one of the few major Scotch whisky producers to have stayed within the founding family's hands. Glenfiddich holds a remarkable place in whisky history: in 1963, it became the first single malt Scotch whisky to be actively promoted outside the United Kingdom, effectively introducing the category to a global audience. Today, Glenfiddich is widely recognised as the world's bestselling single malt Scotch whisky. Its core range spans a broad spectrum of ages and styles, from approachable entry-level expressions to rare and ultra-aged releases, with a characteristic house style that tends toward fruity, elegant, and approachable drams. Glenfiddich has earned more awards since 2000 than any other single malt Scotch whisky in two of the world's most prestigious competitions, cementing its reputation not only as a commercial giant but as a benchmark of quality in the category.
