Speyside, Scotland · Founded in 1897
Glendullan Distillery was founded in 1897 by Aberdeen blending company William Williams & Sons, making it the seventh distillery to be built in the famous Speyside town of Dufftown. Constructed during the late-Victorian whisky boom, the distillery takes its name from the Dullan Water that runs through the area. Production began in 1898, and the distillery quickly earned royal recognition when its single malt was supplied to King Edward VII in 1902. Over the following decades, Glendullan changed hands several times, joining Macdonald, Greenlees & Williams Distillers in 1919 and later becoming part of the Distillers Company Limited (DCL) in 1926 before ultimately passing into the hands of Diageo. Glendullan is best known today as the home of The Singleton of Glendullan, Diageo's flagship Singleton expression for the American market. The distillery produces a classic Speyside style: approachable, fruit-forward single malts with notes of orchard fruit, gentle sweetness, and soft oak. A second distillery was built on the same site in 1972 to meet growing demand, further underlining the importance of Glendullan within the wider Scotch whisky industry. Its whisky's are widely appreciated for their smooth, balanced character.
