Glen Keith is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky distillery built in 1957 by Chivas Brothers, at a time when few new distilleries were being established in Scotland. Located in the heart of Speyside, it was constructed as part of the post-war expansion of Scotch whisky production, primarily designed to supply blending malt for Chivas Brothers and their parent company, the Canadian distilling giant Seagram Company. The distillery officially opened in 1960 and has been owned by the Pernod Ricard group since 2001. Glen Keith was conceived to fill a gap in the flavour portfolio available to Chivas Brothers, providing malt for renowned blends such as Chivas Regal and Passport Scotch. Notably, it served as Seagram's experimental plant and still houses the Chivas Brothers laboratory. From the very beginning, Glen Keith ran triple-distilled malt, making it a rather unconventional Speyside operation. The distillery was mothballed in 1999 but has since been brought back into production, continuing to play a key role within the Chivas Brothers portfolio. The first official single malt bottling of Glen Keith — a 10-year-old expression — was not released until 1994, reflecting its long-standing identity as a blending workhorse rather than a single malt in its own right. Today, Glen Keith expressions are sought after by whisky enthusiasts and collectors alike.
