Glen Deveron is the former brand name for the official single malt bottlings produced at Macduff Distillery, located on the northeastern coast of Scotland. The distillery was founded in 1960 by a consortium of four businessmen who established Glen Deveron Distillers Ltd. Over the decades, it passed into the hands of John Dewar & Sons Ltd., a subsidiary of Bacardi Limited, who would later reshape the brand's identity. In 2015, the name Glen Deveron was officially retired and replaced by The Deveron, though older expressions still carry the Glen Deveron label and remain sought after by collectors. Glen Deveron was known for its approachable, easy-drinking style with a coastal character β a reflection of its seaside location near Banff on the Aberdeenshire coast. The whisky was distilled using traditional methods in copper stills by a small, dedicated workforce whose craft skills were passed down through generations. The 10 Year Old expression was particularly successful commercially, at one point outselling Aberfeldy, another Bacardi-owned single malt. Independent bottlings of the same distillate are typically released under the Macduff name, adding to the layered identity of this Highland producer.
