The Glasgow Distillery Company was founded in 2014 in Hillington, on the outskirts of Glasgow. Its name pays homage to the original Glasgow Distillery, also known as Dundashill, which was established in 1770 and closed in 1902. At its peak, Glasgow was home to more than 30 working distillery sites, making it a significant hub of Scotch whisky production. The modern Glasgow Distillery set out to revive that proud tradition and put the River City back on the whisky map. The distillery's flagship product is the Glasgow 1770 Single Malt Scotch Whisky, a range that celebrates the year the original distillery was founded. The Glasgow 1770 expressions are known for their accessible yet complex character, available in a variety of finishes and styles that showcase the versatility of urban Lowland distilling. The distillery also produces Malt vodka and gin alongside its whisky portfolio, reflecting its modern, craft-oriented approach. Glasgow Distillery has been widely praised for putting urban Scottish distilling back in the spotlight, drawing attention to Glasgow's rich but largely forgotten whisky heritage. Its releases have gained recognition among whisky enthusiasts and critics alike, cementing its reputation as one of Scotland's exciting newer distilleries.
