Gelston's Irish Whiskey traces its roots back to 1830, when Samuel Gelston, a prosperous wine and spirits merchant, established his business in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The brand was later purchased by Harry Neill in 1869 and has since remained in the Neill family for five generations, making it one of Ireland's most enduring whiskey legacies. Today, the brand is owned by Halewood Artisanal Spirits, operating through the HJ Neill joint venture, which has given new life to this historic Belfast label. Gelston's offers a diverse portfolio of Irish whiskeys that showcases the full breadth of Irish whiskey styles. The range includes a Blended Irish Whiskey, a Single Malt, and a Single Pot Still expression — the latter being a distinctly Irish style that reflects a rich tradition of pot still distillation. The Single Pot Still bottling comes in at 40% ABV and is positioned as an accessible yet characterful expression of Irish whiskey craftsmanship. As part of the Halewood Artisanal Spirits portfolio — which also includes Whitley Neill Gin and Dead Man's Fingers Rum — Gelston's has benefited from significant investment and renewed focus. In 2022, the brand further expanded its lineup with the introduction of a cream liqueur, demonstrating its ambition to grow beyond traditional whiskey expressions while staying rooted in its Belfast heritage.
