Fary Lochan is a small, family-owned distillery founded in 2009 by Jens-Erik Jørgensen, located in South Jutland, Denmark, not far from Billund Airport. As Denmark's first whisky distillery, it played a pioneering role in putting Danish whisky on the global map. The distillery is idyllically spread over several houses and is today run by three siblings, continuing the family legacy with dedication and craftsmanship. Fary Lochan is known for its uncompromising, small-batch approach, filling just 50 casks per year. One of the distillery's most distinctive characteristics is the use of malt smoked over fresh nettles, giving their expressions a truly unique and local identity. Beyond whisky, the distillery has expanded its portfolio to include gin made from local botanicals, as well as aquavits and liqueurs, showcasing the breadth of their craft spirit production. With its innovative use of local ingredients and a commitment to handcrafted production, Fary Lochan has earned a strong reputation among whisky enthusiasts worldwide. The distillery stands as a benchmark for the Danish whisky boom and continues to be celebrated as one of Scandinavia's most original and exciting craft distilleries.
