DYC, which stands for Destilerías y Crianza, is Spain's pioneering whisky brand, founded by Nicomedes García Gómez in 1958. Born in the mid-20th century, DYC played a defining role in establishing whisky production in Spain, introducing mass production at a time when the spirit was virtually unknown in the country. The brand's roots and its founder remain central to its identity — a legacy that was recently honored in a special packaging redesign by Morillas, created as a tribute to García and the distillery's origins. DYC is crafted using a combination of high-quality grains, peat, and pure mountain spring water, giving it a distinctive character that sets it apart from other European whiskies. The brand is now part of the Suntory Global Spirits portfolio, placing it alongside some of the world's most respected whisky names. DYC offers accessible, approachable expressions that have made it a household name in Spain. To mark its 60th anniversary, DYC launched a limited edition series of twelve expressions, celebrating six decades of Spanish whisky heritage. The brand also has an international footprint, with versions distributed across Europe and even distilled and bottled in India for other markets, underscoring DYC's remarkable reach for a Spanish whisky label.
