Darsa, formally known as Destiladora de Alcoholes y Rones (DARSA), is a large distillery located in Retalhuleu, Guatemala. Owned and operated by Licores de Guatemala, it is one of the key spirits producers in Central America. While the facility is primarily known for rum production, individual casks from Darsa have attracted the attention of independent bottlers and spirits enthusiasts around the world. Darsa produces a range of rums that have been released as single cask expressions by various independent bottlers. These releases are typically bottled at cask strength, without additives, and showcase the distillery's character: notes of tropical fruits, apples, dark chocolate, oak, and black licorice are commonly found across expressions. Aged in second-fill bourbon barrels, Darsa's output reflects the warm climate and sugar cane heritage of Guatemala. Despite being relatively unknown to the mainstream, Darsa has built a quiet reputation among rum and whisky enthusiasts. Independent bottlers such as L'Esprit and others in the Scandinavian market have helped bring Darsa single casks to a wider audience, with releases ranging from 8 to 11 years of age bottled at impressive cask strengths. Brands like Coconut Cartel also source aged rum from Darsa for their own expressions.
