Highland, Scotland · Founded in 1852
Dailuaine Distillery is one of Speyside's oldest and most productive distilleries, founded in 1852 by farmer William Mackenzie in the village of Carron, nestled along the banks of the Carron Water in Speyside. Following Mackenzie's death in 1865, his wife Jane took over the lease, and the distillery continued to grow. By 1884, Dailuaine had undergone a major expansion, becoming one of the largest distilleries in Speyside. In 1898, Dailuaine-Talisker Distilleries Ltd was formed, uniting Dailuaine with the celebrated Isle of Skye distillery Talisker. Today, Dailuaine is part of Diageo's extensive portfolio, where it serves as a vital component malt. Dailuaine is primarily known as a key blending malt, contributing its rich, fruity, and full-bodied character to many of Diageo's flagship blended Scotch whiskies. The distillery produces a heavily sherried, robust style of Speyside single malt, with notable depth and complexity. Its official bottling — the 16-year-old Flora & Fauna expression — offers whisky enthusiasts a rare chance to explore the distillery's character as a standalone single malt, showcasing notes of dried fruit, sherry, and warming spice. Independent bottlers such as Douglas Laing have also released expressions from Dailuaine, further highlighting its versatility and quality.
