Daftmill

Daftmill is a true farm distillery located in Fife, Scotland, established in 2005 by brothers Francis and Ian Cuthbert. The distillery is housed in the old mill of the former Daftmill farm, a building that dates back to 1655. The Cuthbert family purchased the farm in 1984 and eventually converted it into one of Scotland's most distinctive distilleries. Despite building up a full stock portfolio over many years, Daftmill only began releasing its whisky at 12 years old in 2018, making its debut through Berry Bros. & Rudd. Daftmill operates as a genuine single estate distillery, using barley grown exclusively on its own farm — a self-sufficient approach that sets it apart in the Scotch whisky world. Production is famously limited to around 100 casks per year, making each release highly sought after. The whisky is crafted in the Lowland style, typically elegant and approachable, with expressions including 12-year-old, 15-year-old, and cask strength releases. Daftmill is widely credited with helping to lead the revival of Lowland malt distilleries, growing from just two active producers when it started to over 20 in production or under construction today. Its combination of farm heritage, limited production, and uncompromising quality has earned it a devoted following among whisky enthusiasts worldwide.
