Clontarf Irish Whiskey draws its name from one of the most pivotal moments in Irish history: the Battle of Clontarf in 1014, when Brian Boru, the High King of Ireland, defeated an invading Viking army and reclaimed Dublin. The brand itself was launched in 2000 by the Roaring Water Bay Spirits Company, founded by David Phelan and Pat Rigney in Dublin, Ireland. Over the years, ownership changed hands several times — Castle Brands acquired the brand, before Irish Distillers integrated Clontarf into its portfolio in 2021, alongside iconic names such as Jameson. Most recently, in July 2024, Pernod Ricard sold the brand to Cobblestone Brands. Clontarf produces approachable and smooth Irish whiskeys that reflect the classic triple-distilled style Ireland is renowned for. The range is crafted to appeal to both newcomers and seasoned whiskey drinkers, with expressions including a Reserve that showcases the brand's commitment to quality and consistency. The whiskeys are known for their light, easy-drinking character — a hallmark of well-crafted Irish spirit.
